Build for your own courses and share with other instructors for free. When other courses
should pay for yours, set a price and Voshi publishes it, the way a publisher would.

Free tools
Share for free.
Build tools for your own courses and share them with any instructor at no charge. As long as no one is being charged for use of your tool, Voshi is free to use.
Voshi provides free infrastructure as an educational service. Free use of the platform must be within reasonable use.
Paid tools
Set the price.
When your tool is ready to charge for use, you choose the price. Most tools
cost
$10–$40
per student; advanced tools and simulations might charge more.
Prices are given as examples, not as a floor or a ceiling. Different tools should price differently. Voshi looks at a price only when
something seems off.
03 · How payment works
Familiar to students. Established in universities.
At most universities, students pay for the platform and tool on their first launch to
the platform. It works much like buying a textbook — the way MyEducator has processed
payments since
2011.
Voshi also works at universities with universal access and at online universities with
included textbooks.
Revenue from paid tools

Builder
30%
Voshi and the builder split revenue from paid tools
70% and
30%. You wrote the tool; Voshi publishes it: hosting, security,
accessibility, contracts, students, payments.
04 · What Voshi's share supports
Why the split? Because it takes a company.
The moment a tool leaves your laptop and enters a course, it's no longer just a project.
It's now a vendor. It handles student names and grades, so it answers to FERPA and to
the university's security office. It must work with a screen reader, so it can be
accessible to all. It goes through procurement, which is its own quest. It needs
to be up at 2 a.m. the night before a deadline, someone to answer the student whose
payment failed, and a refund policy.
Then the next university asks for all of it again, using its processes and standards.
That's the publisher's job, and that's what we do. Day after day, for every tool.
