Add Voshi to Canvas
Most schools already have Voshi installed in Canvas, so you can add a tool to your course right away.
You add a Voshi tool to your course from inside Canvas, where Voshi is listed under the MyEducator name. A tool offers one or more activities, such as a quiz, a lab, or a chapter. You choose the tool and its activities in the Voshi deep linking dialog, and Canvas places a link to each one in your course. Students click the link and the tool opens inside Canvas, with no separate account or sign-in.
Three places to start
| Start from | You get | Canvas lists Voshi as |
|---|---|---|
| Assignments | A graded assignment. The tool's scores go to the gradebook. | MyEducator Assignment Selector |
| Modules | A link in a module. Not graded. | MyEducator Deep Linking |
| A page's editor | A link inside the text of a page. Not graded. | MyEducator Reading Links |
Add anything graded as an assignment. You can still show it in a module afterward: a module can list an existing assignment.
The Voshi deep linking dialog
All three ways open the same dialog.
-
Find the tool
Search the catalog, or enter the sharing code the tool's builder gave you. A code is eight letters and digits; case does not matter.

Choose the activities
The dialog lists the activities the tool offers. Choose the one you want; from Modules, you can choose several, and each becomes its own item.

Confirm
The dialog closes and hands the links back to Canvas, which finishes the step you started from (below).
If a sharing code names a version your course can't use, the dialog says so and adds nothing.
As an assignment
-
Create the assignment
In your course, open Assignments and click + Assignment. Give it a name.
-
Choose External Tool
Under Submission Type, choose External Tool, then click Find.

Set the points and save

In a module

To show a graded activity in a module, add it as an assignment first, then add that assignment to the module (Add → Assignment).
On a page
-
Edit the page
Open the page (or a discussion, an announcement, or anything else with Canvas's rich content editor) and click Edit. Put the cursor where the link should go.
-
Open the Apps menu
In the editor's toolbar, click the Apps button (the plug icon) and choose MyEducator Reading Links. If it isn't listed, choose View All to find it.

Choose and save

Next term
Copying your course to a new term (Copy this Course, or Import Course Content) brings the links along, and the copy uses the same version of each tool as the original. A course never changes versions by itself: when a builder replaces the version your course uses, the tool offers you the upgrade, and nothing changes until you accept it.
