Frequently Asked Questions

Before you build.

What Voshi does, how it fits your LMS, what your students see, who owns what, and how the money works. If the answer you need is not here, the last question tells you where to go.

01 · Getting started

What is Voshi?

Voshi builds the tool you describe and connects it to your course. You tell its AI builder what students should do and what counts; it writes a working tool, not a mockup. You try the tool as a student would, change it until it is right, and add it to your course from inside your LMS, like any other assignment.

Voshi is also the vendor: the security reviews, accessibility, privacy, payments, and support that a university requires before a tool touches a course. See what Voshi handles.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe; the builder writes. Most builders never open the code.

If you do code, the dashboard lets you download your tool's code, edit it, and upload it again, or connect your own editor through Voshi's MCP server. The developer documentation covers the API.

What does it cost to try?

Nothing. Signing up, building, testing, and using a tool in your own courses are free, as long as no one is charged for the tool. Voshi provides that as an educational service, within reasonable use. See pricing.

When can I see it working?

As soon as the builder finishes a version, it is in your Sandbox, where you can launch it exactly as a student would. Change your mind, change the tool, try again. Nothing reaches a course until you add it.

02 · Your LMS

Does it work with my LMS?

Yes, with Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace, and any other LMS that supports LTI 1.3, the standard way external tools connect to a course.

Will my university allow it?

Your tool runs inside Voshi, and Voshi is the vendor. We have been through university reviews and have the paperwork ready: SOC 2 Type II, HECVAT, VPAT, FERPA, and the rest of the 99 requirements. Every tool shared through Voshi is checked for accessibility and security before it is shared.

Is Voshi already set up at my university?

Ask your LMS administrator. If other instructors at your university use Voshi, it is already installed and you can add your tool right away. If not, your administrator adds Voshi once, the way they add any external tool, and we supply whatever their review asks for.

How do I add a tool to my course?

From inside your LMS, where you would add any other assignment or module item: choose Voshi, pick your tool and where it goes, and it is in the course. Students launch it from there.

How do grades reach my gradebook?

When your tool is added as a graded item, students' scores go to that gradebook column. Nobody emails you for a link, and nothing is copied by hand.

03 · Students

What do students need?

Nothing new. They are already signed in to the LMS, and they launch the tool from the course. No account to create, nothing to install.

Do students pay?

For a free tool, nothing. For a tool you charge for, students pay on their first launch, the way they would buy a textbook. Voshi also works at universities with inclusive or universal access programs, where materials are included.

What about students who use a screen reader?

Accessibility is Voshi's job, not yours. Tools are held to WCAG 2.2 AA, Voshi provides the VPAT universities ask for, and shared tools are checked before they are shared.

What happens to student data?

Voshi is the vendor of record for your tool, so it answers to FERPA, to GDPR where it applies, and to your university's security office. Student names and grades are handled under those rules, with the retention, encryption, and review practices listed in the requirements.

04 · Ownership and sharing

Who owns the tool?

You do. It lives in your Voshi account, not in your university's systems, and it goes where you go.

Can I take the code with me?

Yes. Download your tool's complete code from the dashboard at any time.

Can a colleague use my tool?

Share it in Voshi, and any instructor can add it to their own course. Across the hall or across the world: their LMS shows it as a proper external tool, they pick it, and it runs in their course exactly as it runs in yours.

Can I change a tool that colleagues already use?

Yes, without surprising their classes. A course stays on the version it adopted; when you publish a new version, each instructor chooses when to move to it.

05 · Pricing

Can I charge for my tool?

Yes. When other courses should pay for yours, set a price and Voshi publishes it, the way a publisher would. Most tools cost $10 to $40 per student; advanced tools and simulations may charge more. See pricing.

How is the money split?

Voshi keeps 70% and you receive 30%. If a colleague's 120 students each pay $15, that is $1,800, of which $540 is yours.

Why does Voshi keep the larger share?

Because a tool in a course is a vendor, and it takes a company to be one: hosting and uptime, security and compliance, accessibility, contracts with each university, support for instructors and students, payments, and refunds. That is the publisher's job, and it is what the 70% pays for.

06 · Voshi

Who is behind Voshi?

MyEducator, a publisher started in 2011 by university instructors who wanted their course materials to work the way their classrooms did. MyEducator materials are used in universities throughout the world; Voshi is the next step. About Voshi.

I have a question that is not here.

Ask us: the contact page has the addresses, for support and for questions about a tool that is different from the norm. For the technical side, the developer documentation describes everything a tool can do.
