The dashboard
Everything about a hosted tool happens in the Voshi dashboard. Open Tools, pick your tool, and its pages are down the left side in three groups:
| Group | Pages |
|---|---|
| Build | AI Builder, Locations, Sandbox |
| Publish | Versions, Sharing, Pricing |
| Manage | Launches, Grades, Settings |
All Tools at the top takes you back to the list. Developer API in the main menu is these docs. Your account menu, top right, holds Editor Agents (see Advanced: Editor Agents).
These docs say tool for what you build, and app only where the API does (api.app, the /apps/… URLs); the two mean the same thing.
Build
AI Builder
Your tool's first page, and where it gets built. The page has two panels:
- Discuss Design on the left is a conversation. Describe what the learner should be doing; the AI asks what it needs to know and says when it has enough. The wand button becomes Generate Tool when the AI is ready; press it and the whole conversation goes to the builder, which writes the tool and uploads it as your draft. A correction is just another message, followed by another build. A message that led things astray can be set aside (Don't use this in the build; it dims and is struck through, reversibly) so the next build ignores it. New conversation starts over against the same tool; Past conversations keeps the old ones.
- Running Tool on the right launches your draft — a real launch, in your tool's Sandbox course. Choose which location to launch and whether to launch as a Student or an Instructor. Both roles share one course, so an instructor launch sees what the student launch just saved, exactly as in a real course. Refresh launches again.
The Running Tool header also holds the code controls:
- Download Code gives you the draft as a zip. It includes an
AGENTS.mdthat briefs a coding assistant (Claude Code, Cursor, and the like) on the rules of a hosted tool, so you can edit the code outside the dashboard and bring it back. - Replace Code takes a folder from your computer and makes it the draft. Choose the folder that holds
manifest.json, or that holdsapp.jsif there is no manifest. The dialog lists what will be uploaded. - Connect Your Editor opens Editor Agents, for working on the tool from your own editor without downloading and uploading by hand.
See Your tool's files for what is in the folder.
Locations
The destinations your tool offers an instructor — each with a Name, an External ID (your tool's own, permanent identifier for it), a Voshi ID, and a Type, with the points under an Assessment. Add Location adds one; Edit changes its name; Discontinue this location, in the Edit drawer, hides it from the Voshi deep linking dialog without breaking links already placed, and a discontinued location can be reactivated. A tool with one activity has one location, home. The AI Builder adds to and updates this list when a build calls for it, and the code never carries it. See Locations.
Sandbox
A private practice course that only you can see, with your tool already in it. Its tabs mirror what a course has:
- Links are placements of your tool in the Sandbox course. New Link opens the same Voshi deep linking dialog an instructor uses, so you can place any of your locations; the rocket on each link launches it as a student or an instructor. Reset throws away everything stored at a link, so the next launch starts as a first launch; Remove deletes the link.
- Launches lists every launch in the Sandbox.
- Grades lists every score your tool reported from the Sandbox, with the result.
The Sandbox always runs your draft. See Testing in the Sandbox.
Publish
Versions
Your published versions, with their status, visibility, and which is current and which is pilot. New Version publishes the draft; Edit changes a version's visibility and notes, and is where you Deprecate or Disable it; Make current and Make pilot move the pointers. See Versions.
Sharing
The codes instructors type into the Voshi deep linking dialog to add your tool, each pinned to a version. New Code issues one; Revoke turns one off. See Sharing your tool.
Pricing
Whether a student pays to launch your tool, and how much, with different prices for different audiences. A tool with no prices is free. Pricing is described on the Pricing page itself and on Voshi's website; it is not part of your code — a paying student is sent to checkout before your tool is launched, and your tool never knows the difference.
Manage
Launches
Every launch of your tool, from every course: when, which course, which user, which location, and whether it succeeded. Filter by status, location, course, or user to follow one student's path, or to see whether a particular placement is being used. Launches from the Sandbox are not here; they are on the Sandbox's own tab.
Grades
Every score your tool reported, from every course, with the result the LMS gave. A score the LMS refused shows here with the reason. Details opens the full record: what was sent, what the LMS answered, who published it.
Settings
The tool's identity: its Tool ID, its Status, and the Name and Description instructors see.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Normal. Whether instructors can find the tool is decided by its versions and sharing, not here. |
| Archived | You put it away: it does not launch, cannot be added to a course, and takes no uploads. Archive this tool and Unarchive this tool are at the bottom of the page. |
| Suspended | Voshi disabled it. Only Voshi can lift a suspension. |
A hosted tool has no API key and no URLs to configure, because it has no server. Those exist only for an externally hosted tool, which has a Routes page in place of the AI Builder and a Status page in place of Versions.
Team members
Tools are managed by their members, and membership is flat: every member has full rights over the tool. The dashboard has no members screen yet — ask the MyEducator team to add or remove teammates.
